Hi André

However 7 smurfs can be seen on these boxes, I think, only 5 of them were sold in the boxes, not the chimney and not the cyclist.
The chimney can be found in different colors

The quality of these 7 supers is far less, poorer, then the beautiful CNT smurfs!

The 10 spanish smurfs with trafficsigns or with other objects are normal Schleich smurfs, marked w.germany, only the objects, signs, are special and no idea who made them???

But they are mentioned on the boxes..................

Years ago i was lucky to find 5 boxes, the ones i didn't find, you already guess.............. chimney sweaper and cyclist :-D

exactly!!

No one has these two in OVP, so I suppose they were never sold with a box, however they certainly were intended to be, according to the text on the boxes. :(

Thanks Frank and Lia

I knew you were the ones to ask.

Lia is the red ladder the original one?

I remember I asked you Lia when i got the baby( sunbather) in a lot, if the quality should be that bad.

Jon showed us this ad from spanish newspapers in June 1983 which says:
" Schleich S c peyo firm, located in 7070 Schwäbisch Gmünd in Germany, is the owner of all rights of global fabrication of Smurf PVC figure and all accessories.
Held by Schleich S c peyo, several unauthorized reproductions of character "the Smurf", which are appearing in the Spanish market.
We hereby inform you that our exclusive importers in Spain are:
Mont-Torres, Granvia, n 641 Barcelona 10
who directly or through IREC SA, Granvia n 641, Barcelona 10, may market in Spain.
warning:
manufacturing and / or marketing unauthorized SMURF, accessories or any other character in our catalog, constitutes a serious violation of the rights of intellectual and industrial property of Schleich S c Peyo, in the terms that is protected by current legislation.
Schleich S c Peyo, is determined to take legal action against violators of such rights immediately, with all the harshness that the law allows." Google translate just so you understand approximatly what it says. :D

Maybe they stopped because of this before manufacture the last 2?? :-? And then the signbearers where produced in germnay and just added the special signs for the spanish market after mid 1983??

I have a small booklet for the spanish market with the IREC SA.- address. That was the company distributing the smurfs in Spain I assume from the news-ad.?

I doubt very much if the red ladder is original, but it was sold with the chimney...so I prefer to leave it with the figurine

Just for the ones who don`t know the spanish signbearers, I`ll add some pics.

The spanish smurfs are the big mysterie amongst smurfs, right?
We`ve found more answers about the Minimodels and Hering then the mysterious spanish:))))

Probably because they made many fakes in Spain. The proof for that is that the ad says that. So before mid 1983 probably several fakes were sold in stores otherwise they would probably not put in a ad like this. Then they would probably only contact the company making them. So it seems many companies made fake smurfs and that is also maybe the reason why we find so many different fakes from Spain.

In the SCCI letters a collector says he found all the signbearers with the signs and the other accessories in Spain already in 1980 or 1981 when he was there on holiday. So these could also be unlicensed smurfs. Just some company using germansmurfs and adding the accessories?? Could off course also be licensed trough Peyo then?? Or the collector giving us the wrong years! :-?

As you say it is hard to say, when as Joaquin said licensed smurfs and unlicensed smurfs were sold at the same time in Spain. that would also open for possibilities to mix genuine smurfs with fake accessories and vice versa. :banghead:

Nice to see you all interested in spanish smurfs...

As Lia says, spanish smurfs are the greatest mistery in smurfland. There are many many kinds of spanish smurfs. Not all of them, but many of them were sold in the same stores than the licensed ones.

The cnt ones were sold in the same stores than schelich ones (you all know they are very good quality smurfs). I can´t remember where the spanish smurfs in boxes were sold but I think because of their quality they were sold in other kind of stores

Pitufhogar smurfs sets were sold in good stores. It is odd but they have a copyyright, so thay could be considered as "licensed"
